Privacy Policy
Happy Smiles Foundation collects information needed to process donations, administer giveaways, verify eligibility, respond to messages, and operate the website. Giveaway entry information may include name, email, date of birth, and mailing address so eligibility can be verified.
Payment card data is handled by Stripe and is not stored on this website. Giveaway entry and contribution records are kept separately so a free method of entry remains available.
Website analytics
We use first-party analytics to count visits to public pages and estimate visitors active within the last five minutes. Your browser stores a random identifier with a 24-hour expiry; an open page may retain it until closed. Visible pages send an activity update once per minute. We store the public page name, random identifiers, and visit times, without form contents, URL query strings, or IP addresses in our analytics records. Private family pages and signed-in administrator visits are excluded. We respect browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals. Older analytics records are cleared in batches during site activity after 30 days. Hosting security and access logs are separate from these analytics records.
Family support applications
Adult parents and legal guardians may create an account to request family support. We collect account and contact details, the child's first name and age, the family's story, support needs, and an optional photo. We use this information to review applications, verify relevant details, communicate with the family, and record assistance provided.
Applications and photos are private and accessible to the submitting account and authorized foundation reviewers. We do not publish submitted stories or photos without separate permission. Declining publicity does not affect consideration for assistance. Please do not submit full medical records, Social Security numbers, banking details, or full dates of birth.
Email messages direct you to sign in for application updates. We also record application confirmations, review history, and limited security records to prevent abuse. To request correction or deletion, contact the foundation through our contact page. We may need to verify your identity and determine which records must be retained for assistance administration or applicable recordkeeping requirements.
Before public launch, the foundation should have this policy reviewed for its actual data-retention, security, marketing, and legal practices.
